CHRISTMAS IN THE HOLY DIOCESE OF BRAZZAVILLE
On the night of 24th going into the 25th December 2013 the great Feast of the Nativity of Christ was celebrated in the Parish Churches of the Holy Diocese of Brazzaville and Gabon. His Grace Panteleimon Bishop of Brazzaville celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Holy Cathedral of St Dimitrios in Pointe-Noire, during which he read the Patriarchal Encyclical of Christmas by His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa.
Prior to the end of the Eucharistic gathering and with the blessing of His Beatitude, His Grace announced the appointment of one of the oldest native clergy the Reverend Protopresbyter Fr. Maximos Oumba, parish Priest of the Holy Cathedral as Hierarchal Vicar General of the Holy Diocese, and also consecrated three new Readers of the local Church.
A festive celebration followed, during which “Father Christmas” together with the Bishop distributed gifts and sweets to all the children, with traditional music playing, and offered treats to the faithful.
