On 18 July 2014, His Grace Panteleimon Bishop of Congo-Brazzaville and Gabon visited in turn the Offices of the Delegations of UNESCO and UNICEF in Congo-Brazzaville, in order to discuss the development of training and educational programmes for the benefit of the pupils of the Orthodox “Light of the World” schools and the “St Efstathios” Orphanage.

The directors of the departments of the above-named international organizations, Mrs. Ana Elisa de Santana Afonso and Mr. Aloys Kamuragiye warmly welcomed the Bishop and immediately accepted his supplicatory request. They also asked for the permanent collaboration of the Orthodox Church (through the Parish Communities and the Ecclesiastical Radio), in the promotion of information campaigns and addressing epidemics and endemic tropical diseases, beginning with the campaign of informing the local community regarding how to protect themselves against the deadly Ebola virus.

Following this, in the immediate next few days, relative messages will be relayed by the “Voice of Orthodoxy” Radios Station as well as by distribution of printed material from the Holy Churches.
