FEAST OF ST DIMITRIOS IN POINTE-NOIRE AND ORDINATION OF A DEACON
In splendor and piety the memory of the Saint and Great Martyr Dimitrios was celebrated in Pointe-Noire at the Cathedral dedicated to him in the city. On the eve of the feast Great Vespers was sung, officiated by His Grace Panteleimon Bishop of Brazzaville and Gabon. On 26th October a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy was conducted during which His Grace ordained to the Diaconate Fr Paul Diafouka, Director of the Radio Station of the Diocese, called “The Voice of Orthodoxy”.
During the ordination which is the first done by the Bishop, His Grace Panteleimon spoke of the importance and enormous responsibility of serving the Holy Altar and the faithful. He also gave paternal advice to the new deacon, passing on also the paternal love of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, with whose permission the ordination took place according to the ecclesiastical order of the Ancient Patriarchal Throne.
Fr. Paul Diafouka is 41 years old and married and will serve at the Holy Cathedral of St Dimitrios, while continuing his duties as Director of the Radios Station of the local Church.
Present at the spiritual and liturgical events were clergy, representatives of he state officials, military and police officials of the city as well as many faithful.
