On 2nd August 2013, His Grace Panteleimon Bishop of Brazzaville and Gabon flew to Brazzaville, the capital of the Congo, where he met with His Excellency the Minister of the Interior, who is also responsible for Church affairs, Mr. Raymond Zéphirin Mboulou. During the meeting which was also attended by the Honourable Consul General of Greece Mr. Nicholas Perris, His Grace gave the Minister a letter from His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II, about the election and the settlement of the first Orthodox Bishop in the country, briefed him on the general spiritual and missionary work done by the local Church and held lengthy discussions with him on issues regarding its presence and legal basis in the Republic of the Congo.
He then went on to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, where he signed the final agreement between the Orthodox Church and the State regarding the Diocesan Schools, which will henceforth be accepted as “Faith Schools” and will have the benefits which the State affords the church schools of all Christian faiths.
He went on to meet with His Excellency Mr. Pierre Mabiala, Minister of the Public Sector, with whom he examined the possibility of obtaining state land in the north of the country, for further development of the Orthodox presence in that area.
Finally His Grace paid a visit to venerate at the Holy Parish Church of the Resurrection of the Lord in Brazzaville and in the evening of the same day he returned to Pointe-Noire, the See of the Holy Diocese.
