ORDINATION OF NEW PRIEST IN LOUINGUI
On Sunday 15th December 2013, the memory of St Spyridon was commemorated at the Parish Church dedicated to him, with much splendor. His Grace Panteleimon, Bishop of Brazzaville and Gabon conducted a Hierarchal Divine Liturgy, during which he ordained to the Priesthood Deacon Jean-Marie Marc Zingoula, with Venerable Patriarchal permission and blessing by His Beatitude.
During his homily the Bishop spoke of the high service of the Priesthood and the enormous responsibility of pasturing Christ’s flock. He also gave paternal advice and exhortations to the new Priest, passing on to him also the paternal love of His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, who ordained Fr. Jean-Marie Marc Zingoula to the Diaconate during his past official visit to the Congo, in October 2012.
The new Priest is 51 years old, married, the father of four children and will serve as Parish Priest of the Holy Church of St Spyridon in Louingui. His Beatitude also consecrated Messrs. Jean Zingoula and Menas Destin as Readers of the local Church.
Present at the spiritual and Liturgical events were priests, representatives of local authorities, as well as many faithful from the Parish of St Spyridon in Louingui and the Parish of the Resurrection of Christ from the capital, Brazzaville, for whom the newly-ordained Priest hosted a festive meal, according to local custom.
On the next day, His Grace returned by air to Pointe-Noire, where on the evening of the same day he conducted in Arabic the established weekly Divine Liturgy for the Arabic-speaking Orthodox faithful.
