PASTORAL VISIT TO THE PARISH COMMUNITY OF NKAYI

On Sunday 8th December 2013, His Grace Panteleimon, Bishop of Brazzaville and Gabon, paid a Pastoral visit to the Parish Community of Nkayi. During his visit, His Grace served the Divine Liturgy and preached the divine word at the Holy Church of the Transfiguration of the Saviour, which is still under construction. He also presented to the faithful their new Parish Priest, Fr. Dimitios Otomba, and announced the transfer of their present Parish Priest Fr. Silouan Nkounkou to the Parish Community of St Fotini in Pointe-Noire.

An outdoor gathering of the faithful followed, to whom His Grace spoke at length about the Orthodox faith and analytically explained the programme for the formation of catechetical groups for pupils, youth, and adults. He also held talks with the Church Council on issues regarding the completion of the building of the Church. On the evening of the same day, following a seven-hour drive, he returned to the See of the Diocese.

On the previous day, His Grace was in Dolisie, where he to where he transported foodstuff, to the Orthodox Orphanage of “St Efstathios”, kindly donated by the Brotherhood of Orthodox External Missions of Thessaloniki, collaborated with the Director of the Orthodox Educational Institute “Light of the World” and visited the monastic residence of the Evangelist John, which is under construction, as well as other Church properties.
