THE CHILDREN OF DOLISIE…
On Thursday 3rd April 2014, His Grace Panteleimon, Bishop of Congo-Brazzaville and Gabon, met with the children of the Orthodox “Agios Efstathios” orphanage, in the framework of his regular visits to the city of Dolisie, in order to hand over food to the charitable institution and to monitor its general operation. He also met with the teaching staff of the “Light of the World” educational establishments.
He then had lengthy meetings with the Reverend Fr. Pavlo Diafouka, on issues regarding the re-organization of the Parish Community of St. Irene. Father Paul, who is the first priest to be ordained by His Grace as Bishop of the Congo, goes about his priestly and pastoral duties with zeal and productive results.
He also visited the General Hospital in the city, where he met with the Director General Dr Mathias Gassay, and requested from him free medical monitoring and treatment, when this is deemed necessary (particularly in malaria cases), for the young children of the orphanage. Dr. Gassay immediately agreed, emphasizing that it is the moral duty of the State to support every philanthropic effort by the Church.
Within the framework of the paternal concern of His Grace regarding the ensuring that every child in the orphanage receives a diploma from a technical or other faculty for his or her future professional career, before their coming of age and departing from the orphanage, His Grace completed his visit to Dolisie, by visiting the School of Information Technology where the oldest of the inmates is studying, to find out about his progress.
