On June 3, 2022, the His Eminence Pantelimon Metropolitan of Naucratis and Chief Secretary and Member of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, received at the Patriarchal See on behalf of His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II who is on an official visit to Tanzania, the Professor of the National Technical University of Athens, Mrs. Tonia Moropoulou, who two years ago led the unique project of the restoration of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.

During her stay at the Patriarchate, Ms. Moropoulou visited the Patriarchal Museum, which is housed in the underground water reservoirs from the Ptolemaic years and carried out scientific measurements regarding planned large-scale groundwater diversion works.

On the evening of the same day, His Eminence represented the His Beatitude the Patriarch of Alexandria at the lecture given by Mrs. Moropoulou at the Papakosta Institute, on the successful completion of the restoration work of the Holy Sepulcher.

The event was prefaced by the distinguished Greek archaeologist Dr. Kalliopi Papakosta-Limneou, who for many years has been conducting archeological excavations in the historic center of Alexandria with very important discoveries, such as the only statue in the world of the naked Alexander the Great.
